While studying abroad in Italy I found myself challenged by the juxtaposition of the expenses of daily life and the simple pleasures I could indulge in for free. My flatmates and I would spend hours roaming the city in search of a new gelato shop. We were surrounded by beautiful people and high end stores. I found myself low on money and a little frustrated. This series, shot on film in my black and white photography class, allowed me to combined my observations, frustrations, and musings into one concept. I created couture dresses out of trash, newspapers, collected bits and a shower curtain in effort to create a fashion shoot that was virtually free.
