Salt & Straw
Harvest Festival Series

“What if we looked like a Stars Hollow Festival?”
CO Projects approached me to Art Direct the Harvest Festival Series for Salt & Straw, a beloved local ice cream shop. The ask was to elevate the visual experience while still being super approachable.

The entire set needed to be shot in one day and be flexible enough to work for web and mobile. After much debate, we shot each flavor individually with a lighting schematic and background that allowed for multiple layouts and still felt natural.

Group Scoop

Salt & Straw needed a group shot that aligned with the other concept and played to the season. After a few rounds of moodboard concepts and art direction ideas, we settled on a natural, warmly lit harvest bounty / slice of life from a day at a harvest festival. Friends, caramel apples, pumpkin and spice, Sokol Blosser and Beecher’s Cheese? Yes please.

Harvest Poster

The series also needed a concept and illustration for in-shop signage. Who doesn’t love a poster? We reimagined a floral bouquet as a celebration of ingredients all wrapped up in a cone. If you’re in Portland (or Disneyland) this harvest season, pop in to take a look and grab a scoop.

My personal recco is the Pinot Poached Pear (I was skeptical, but seriously, try it!).

The Scoop

Art Direction & design work for Salt & Straw in collaboration with the ever talented CO Projects. The entire series was shot in one day. Copious amounts of ice cream may have been sampled.

In-store Poster Design & illustration by yours truly. Poster mockup by freepik. Project managed by the incomparable Spike Selby.
